Budget-friendly DIY Face Mask Ideas
For dry skin:
Turmeric and Yogurt Mask
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon of turmeric
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of Greek yogurt
Mix all the ingredients into a bowl and use your hands or cosmetic spatula to apply the mask to your face. Allow 20 minutes for the ingredients to seep through your skin.
Yogurt and honey prevent acne and add a nice glow to your face, and turmeric helps to reduce skin inflammation and redness.
Banana and Honey Mask
Ingredients:
- 1/2 ripe banana
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
Mash the banana and mix in your honey and baking soda. When they are all well mixed, gently apply them to your face. To begin with, the mask might feel runny, but within a few minutes, it will dry. Give 10 minutes for the mask to sit before washing it off.
Banana has many anti-inflammatory properties and helps to soothe your skin. Honey and baking soda help with the treatments of pimples and breakouts.
For oily skin:
Fresh Aloe Vera Mask
Ingredients:
- 1 egg white
- 2 tablespoon fresh aloe (or, a pinch of aloe vera gel)
If you have fresh aloe, peel the clear jelly-looking section and mix it with the egg white. Apply the mixture to your face with a cosmetic spoon. Before rinsing off, let it sit for 10 minutes.
Aloe Vera helps to calm and hydrate your skin, and egg whites absorb excess oil.
Mojito Mask
Ingredients:
- 1 egg white
- Cucumber
- Mint leaves
Blend up your ingredients until it’s smooth and put in the fridge for approximately 10 minutes. Apply the mixture to your face with a cosmetic spoon or your fingers. Give it 15 minutes to soak into your skin before washing off.
Egg whites eliminate excess oil, and mint and cucumber pump vitamin C and antioxidants into your skin.
For Combination Skin:
Anti-blemish Milk Mask
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons of honey
- 2 tablespoons of nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons of milk
Mix all the ingredients and use a cosmetic sponge or brush to apply the mixture to your face. This mask’s consistency is a bit watery. Leave it for 10-15 minutes before washing off.
Honey milk kills off bacteria and prevents future pimples, while nutmeg acts as a soothing exfoliator for all types of skin.
Chocolate Cake Mask
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons of oats
- 4 tablespoons of cream (dairy)
- 1/4 cup of honey
Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until it looks like a chocolate cake mixture. Then, apply it to your face with a cosmetic spoon. Let it soak into your skin for 10 minutes before rinsing off.
The antioxidants in cocoa powder fight off free radicals that can lead to early wrinkles, and honey and oats work as a team to improve the risk of acne.
